Stayed at Bristol - Beirut, Lebanon.

Beirut - forget about the war - it's been over for 13 years. Expect a modern rebuilt downtown with hundreds of outdoor restaurants and cafes - trendy. Restaurants - best deal in downtown is the Irish Pub "Paddy's". Somebody forgot to tell the chef it's a pub, because he must be from a 5 star background. Splendido's is a lovely seafood and Italian restaurant overlooking the Mediteranean sea. Within a one hour drive from Beirut is the ancient port of Byblos - well worth a visit with nice restaurants overlooking the harbor. Skip Pepe's restaurant - their glory days are definitely history. On the way to Byblos is the village of Harrissa, offering a splendid view of the coastline.
